“To take a photograph is to align the head, the eye and the heart. It’s a way of life.”
Henri Cartier-Besson succinctly describes why I love photography. But it’s not only just ‘a way of life,’ it is also my way of seeing and experiencing the entire world. I think in pictures whether or not I have my camera with me and whether or not I take a photo. I see the light dancing, slanting, glowing, or gray and heavy. I see the emotions fleet across people’s faces and the expressions of their bodies. I see nature and I want to slow it down, capture it, turn it over and around, savor and share it with other people. If I can’t share my excitement and vision of the world, then photography is simply not as much fun. I mainly photograph the elements of nature and people for myself, for friends, for others, for organizations. A lot of it is volunteer work just to help out if I can.
I live in Fort Collins, Colorado with my husband, Ward, and my dog and cat. I love the outdoors and love to hike, bike, snowshoe, cross-country ski, and to do most active things. It’s a perfect place and perfect life for a photographer!
